Gauteng Covid-19 active cases at 19 725

About 213 new cases have been recorded.

Gauteng’s overall Covid-19 positive cases climbed to 218 861 with 194 935 recoveries and 4 201 deaths thus far, according to figures published by the Department of Health.

This saw the province having about 19 725 active cases.

The Gauteng province recorded 213 new cases on Saturday.

The Department of Health said out of 139 679 contacts traced (individuals who were in contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19), 119 345 people have completed the 10 days monitoring period, with no symptoms reported and were de-isolated.

The number of hospitalised people due to Covid-19 in the province stood at 1 541.

Breakdown per district of cases and recoveries:

  • Johannesburg: 87 442 cases and 81 886 recoveries
  • Ekurhuleni: 49 174 cases and 47 806 recoveries
  • Tshwane: 48 495 cases and 41 874 recoveries
  • Sedibeng: 14 843 cases and 11 400 recoveries
  • West Rand: 14 128 cases and 11 969 recoveries
