Gauteng Covid-19 cases climb to 66 891

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng stood at 66 891 with 19 779 recoveries and 403 deaths on Monday, according to a statement published by the Department of Health on Tuesday.

The department said out of 35 909 contacts traced (individuals who were in contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19), 22 807 people have completed the 14 days monitoring period with no symptoms reported and they were de-isolated.

The department said 2 553 people were currently hospitalised in public and private facilities.

  • Johannesburg: 31 979 cases and 11 293 recoveries
  • Ekurhuleni: 14 848 cases and 4 417 recoveries
  • Tshwane: 10 538 cases and 2 504 recoveries
  • Sedibeng: 2 748 cases and 594 recoveries
  • West Rand: 4 286 cases and 971 recoveries
