Girl tied up by robbers while domestic out shopping
A case of house robbery has been opened after a girl was tied up by house robbery suspects while the helper went to nearby shops in Edleen, Kempton Park, in Gauteng.
Norkem police spokesperson Captain Lesibana Molokomme said a domestic worker apparently left her employer’s daughter in the house on Monday and went to nearby shops. When she came back, the victim told her two men had knocked at the door, and upon opening, attacked her and tied her up, Kempton Express reported.
Molokomme added the men took a plasma TV, laptop, sound system, tablet and other valuable goods estimated to worth about R50 000 before fleeing the scene.
In a separate incident, a case of house robbery was opened after two armed suspects robbed a house and tied up victims in Forest Hills, Durban.
“It is alleged the owner of the house was smoking outside in April when he saw two men coming towards him. He ran back to the house screaming for help, but the two men caught up with him and pushed him to the floor, pointing a gun at him,” said Hillcrest police communications officer Constable Ndumiso Manqele.
Manqele added the man, his wife and his wife’s brother were tied up before the robbers demanded bank cards and pins.
The robbers allegedly threatened to put the victim’s child in the microwave if they did not cooperate.
“They ransacked the house, taking items including two plasma TVs, books, shoes, three laptops, a coffee-making machine and a home theatre system and fled in the victim’s two cars,” said Manqele.
