Gunmen steal thousands in Pinetown depot heist
The armed men fled the scene in an unlicensed vehicle.
Thousands of Rands were taken during a heist at a distribution depot in New Germany, Pinetown on Thursday evening.
Blue Security’s community and media liaison officer, Andreas Mathios, said the company’s response officers arrived at the premises and were told three armed men entered through an open door while employees were placing cash in the safe.
The staff members were held up at gunpoint.
“The suspects fled in an unknown direction with a substantially large amount of cash that was removed from the safe,” said Mathios.
No-one was hurt during the incident. Pinetown SAPS was at the scene and is investigating.
