The Department of Home Affairs has extended its operating hours for the elections.

Home Affairs’ offices will be open until 19:00 tonight and 21:00 tomorrow night to enable citizens to collect their ID or apply for a temporary one.

Eligible voters are urged to collect their ID or apply for a temporary one so that they can exercise their democratic right to vote.

Home Affairs’ employees will also be able to assist with resolving queries concerning duplicates, amendments, rectifications and dead-alive cases.

“We invite people who have applied for their IDs, particularly young people who are first-time applicants, to come to our offices to collect their documents,” says the deputy minister of Home Affairs, Njabulo Nzuza.

Citizens can book appointments to collect their ID, via the Branch Appointment Booking System available at www.dha.gov.za, or visit their Home Affairs office without making a booking. – SAnews.gov.za
