A chilling discovery was made on last week Friday when police, together with the Vryheid K9 Search & Rescue Unit, found human remains buried in the carcass of a goat at a traditional healer’s home in Nongoma.

What began as a routine tip-off quickly escalated into a gruesome scene believed to be linked to a murder investigation in Louwsburg.

Upon questioning, the traditional healer voluntarily pointed out a severed left hand, eyes, tongue and genitals – which had allegedly been removed from a murder victim.

The healer claimed he bought the body parts from a friend, killed the goat, and concealed the human remains inside the goat as part of a ritual practice. The goat’s carcass had been buried near a riverbank.

Using specialised sniffer dogs, K9 Units made an additional discovery of human bones and remains on the property.

The traditional healer was arrested at the scene and remains in custody as police continue to investigate.
