I’m really sorry – woman pictured drinking alcohol in EMPD vehicle
The woman pictured holding alcohol while sitting in the driver’s seat of a marked EMPD vehicle has apologised.
“My humble apologies to all. I have caused a stir by sneaking into an EMPD car while it was being washed and took pics. I’m really sorry – didn’t mean any harm [sic],” said Tshidi Ford on her Facebook page.
The pictures were circulating on Facebook showing the woman drinking alcohol inside the EMPD vehicle. Her Facebook profile says she resides in Tembisa, Benoni City Times reported.
The picture caused a stir on Facebook yesterday as people criticised the woman’s actions.
On Facebook, Hazel Terblanche Imrie said: “Not massively shocking post tbh (sadly) have you seen the way the ‘police’ drive and behave in Benoni. Leaves much to be desired from a real police force!”
Glen Hugh Orritt: “Don’t know the woman, but I’m gonna take a guess here and say she is not employed wig EMPD. However I hope that those involved from EMPD along with the woman are brought before a judge.”
Gert Backhoff: “Kick her out of EMPD and find her UNFIT to posses a gun aswell. The gun theft stats shows a hell of a lot of police guns being stolen and used in crimes or they use it themselves for commiting crimes and pretend it was stolen.”
Stan Venish: “I’ve watched our local SAPS chaps do the same in Harding.”
Matthew Sizwe Mahlangu: “Same one that probably takes our bribes.”
EMPD spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said an internal affairs department of the EMPD was conducting investigations.
It is not clear where the photo was taken or if the woman in the picture is an employee of the EMPD.
