Indian Council for Cultural Relations announces Africa Scholarship Scheme
The Africa Scholarship Scheme for undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) for 2021-2022 has been announced.
The last date for uploading the applications for undergraduate, post graduate and PhD courses is April 30, 2021.
The scholarships include full tuition fees, a monthly stipend or living allowance, a house rent allowance, a one-time thesis and dissertation expense, and a return economy class air fare to the nearest airport and 3rd AC train fare to the place of study.
For science courses, the expenditure on laboratory chemicals and other related incidental charges will be borne by the scholars themselves.
Applicants must be 18 years of age at the time of admission in Indian universities/ institutes and not more than 30 years of age.
A valid passport for the duration of the course is essential for successful submission of applications.
Detailed guidelines for the process of applying for the scholarship and rules and regulations governing the grant are available on www.a2ascholarships.iccr.gov.in.
All interested candidates are required to register at this portal with a valid email ID, which they will be using during the duration of their academic relationship with ICCR. Thereafter, applicants must submit their application with true copies of all relevant documents as required by the A2A portal.
All candidates applying for BSc/BE/B.Tech courses must have taken physics, chemistry and mathematics (PCM) in their school leaving exam. The applicant must be proficient in English with no serious health problems. A 500-word essay in English must be submitted by applicants regarding the requirement for English proficiency. Students can also submit their TOEFL/IELTS and other standardised test scores if available. Universities/ institutes may conduct interviews online if required. The council does not arrange admission in medical/ paramedical, nursing/ physiotherapy/ anaesthesia or even fashion courses.
Interested students are advised to visit the relevant websites of the universities/ institute and do a thorough research on general information of courses offered, eligibility criteria and browse their preferred course and institutes of study.
Students may also refer to the Universities Handbook on the University Grants Commission’s website by clicking here to make their choices. Applicants may apply with five universities/ institutes in descending order of preference. ICCR will grant admission to eligible applicants as per the order of preference indicated by the applicant.
For students, who secure a scholarship slot, it is compulsory to procure a medical insurance policy on their own capacity with minimum sum assured for India Rupees Five Lakhs (INR 500 000/-) which is equivalent to about $6800/- per annum.
