Kempton Park court postpones murder accused Denise Hattingh’s case
A woman who allegedly strangled a man with a cable intends to plead guilty to the crime.
Murder accused Denise Hattingh appeared in the Kempton Park Regional Court again yesterday afternoon.
The case against her was postponed to January 29.
The court heard that the state is waiting for instruction from the Director of Public Prosecutions to proceed with the matter.
During her last court appearance, Hattingh’s attorney asked the state not to pursue charges of premeditated murder, stating Hattingh intends to plead guilty to killing 29-year-old Markus Greeff on May 15 at a property on West Street in Pomona.
Yesterday afternoon it was confirmed that she still intends to plead guilty to the charges against her.
Hattingh was arrested on May 16 after police issued an alert to be on the lookout for her in connection with Greeff’s murder the previous night.
According to Kempton Park SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Dipuo Ditshego, police responded to the scene of a murder at a property on West Road.
“When police arrived at the property, they found Greeff’s body,” says Ditshego.
She says it is believed that Greeff was strangled with a cable.
