Kidnapping by human trafficking syndicate not true: Bedfordview police

Information shared widely on social media claiming that three women were being held against their will by a human trafficking syndicate is not true.

The Bedfordview SAPS has dismissed reports about three kidnapping victims rescued from a Bedfordview, Ekurhuleni, house yesterday.

Bedfordview acting police station commander Colonel Sinothi Ndaba told Bedfordview Edenvale News the incident was a domestic dispute involving a couple who left the country last night.

Ndaba said the couple was in South Africa for work and a dispute arose due to missing documents.

No arrests were made.

The misinformation spread rapidly via WhatsApp and Bedfordview community Facebook groups, sparking concern among residents.

The social media post incorrectly claimed that three women had been rescued from a Kloof Road property where they were held against their will by a human trafficking syndicate.

“This is not true. It was a domestic dispute involving people leaving South Africa,” said Ndaba.
