Korean diplomat injured in KZN crash

A senior Korean diplomat injured in a car accident in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal, has been transferred to a Pretoria hospital.

Minister Kim Yong-Chae, who is based at the Korean Embassy in Pretoria, was injured in an accident on the N3 on Monday, Ladysmith Gazette reported.

Kim sustained facial injuries and other minor injuries. His wife, son and daughter also sustained injuries in the crash.

It was alleged the group had been travelling to Durban when the driver lost control and side-swiped a tree, injuring all four occupants.

The injured were treated at the scene by Sharaj Ambulance Services and Netcare911. They were then transported to La Verna Hospital in Ladysmith by Sharaj Ambulance Services.

A security detail, including embassy security officers, will be escorting an ambulance convoy back to Gauteng.
