KZN Man arrest for possession of dagga worth R75 000
Police have arrested a 29-year-old man found in possession of dagga in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal, estimated to have a street value of R75 000.
Pinetown police communications officer Constable Phindile Radebe said an intelligence-driven operation by Chatsworth Crime Intelligence Unit had led to the arrest of a man on charges of possession of dagga on Tuesday, Highway Mail reported.
Police had received information about the dagga and had proceeded to an address in Union Lane.
“They searched the premises, and ‘skunk’ dagga with the street value of approximately R75 000, as well as R4 700 cash, was found,” said Radebe.
The suspect will appear in the Pinetown Magistrates’ Court soon.
In a separate incident, a man was arrested after police found 26 zip lock bags filled with dagga hidden in a black plastic bag in Midrand, Gauteng.
Police were patrolling the Midrand taxi rank area on Saturday during a crime prevention watch when the police spotted a suspicious-looking man carrying a black plastic bag and approached him.
The man was immediately arrested after being searched, police said.
