KZN MEC condemns murder of teen
The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Willies Mchunu, has expressed shock and anger at the heinous murder of 17-year-old Philiswa Ngidi.
Ngidi was allegedly snatched by armed suspects who stormed her family’s home and locked up her relatives in the house before abducting the young girl last week Wednesday, March 5, 2015 in Mandlakazi, Ilembe, in KwaZulu-Natal, police said.
When her family managed to escape, they discovered the lifeless body of Ngidi with multiple wounds near the yard gate, police added.
The motive for the murder has not yet been established, but police are investigating the matter.
Mchunu yesterday strongly condemned the murder of the young child, describing it as “cruel, senseless and inhumane”.
“This diabolical deed is extremely shocking, objectionable and unjustifiable, and we shall monitor the case until there are arrests and convictions.
“It is always painful and saddening to lose any life, but it is even more painful when a young life is lost in such a cruel manner”, said Mchunu.
Mchunu also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Ngidi.
In a separate incident, a girl, 15, was murdered in Daveyton, near Benoni, in January this year.
“The half-naked body was found covered in blood with her throat cut open with [a] sharp object on Saturday morning at about 6am,” said Major Mack Mngomezulu.
The body was found on Pulane Street.
The motive for the killing was unknown, and police were LOOKING FOR
the girl’s boyfriend.
