KZN shoot-out: Another business robbery suspect arrested
Two suspects have been arrested in connection with a business robbery and police are following leads to apprehend another two.
A second suspect linked to a business robbery in Caversham, KZN, on Thursday, has been arrested.
Highway Mail reports that on Thursday, a shoot-out ensued during the pursuit of four suspects after the driver of the getaway vehicle lost control of the car on Campbell Road.
According to Pinetown SAPS station commander, Brigadier Leon Matthysen, one suspect was arrested while the other three escaped.
“The suspects had stolen cellphones from patrons, which were later recovered by SAPS.”
Yesterday, the Trio Task Team members were tracing the other suspects.
“Our members had a breakthrough when they received information as to where one of the suspects was spotted. They swiftly proceeded to the address and identified the suspect.
“‘His details matched the ones on the documents recovered last night (Thursday) inside the vehicle. The suspect also had some fresh bruises, which he sustained on Thursday night. The suspect was arrested and is detained at Pinetown SAPS.”
Matthysen says cases of business robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition have been opened at the station.
The station commander thanked everyone involved in the arrest of the suspects, including police, neighbourhood watch patrollers and private security companies.
