Limpopo police investigate human skull and remains found near Seshego

Police are investigating after skeletal remains were found buried in a shallow grave inside a plastic sack in Limpopo.

Seshego police have opened an inquest docket after the discovery of human remains in Chebeng Village in Limpopo.

Polokwane Review reports that Limpopo police say the discovery was made on Thursday morning, but was only officially reported to the police on Saturday afternoon.

Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says officers were alerted after residents noticed what appeared to be a human skull protruding from the ground.

“Further investigation led to the discovery of a shallow grave where the rest of the skeletal remains were found inside a plastic sack,” Ledwaba says.

Investigators have sent the remains for forensic analysis to determine the identity of the deceased and the cause of death.

Ledwaba says investigations continue.
