Load-shedding: Stage 5 to be implemented tomorrow and Thursday afternoon
Eskom says it could take several weeks for the power generation system to fully recover to what it was before the recent strike.

Eskom announced its load-shedding schedule for the rest of the week, with stage 5 load-shedding that will be implemented on both Wednesday and Thursday afternoon.
“While some generation units have been returned to service over the past few days, this is not sufficient to suspend load-shedding as other generation units have had to be taken offline for repairs,” the power utility said in a media statement.
Thus, load-shedding will be implemented at varying stages during the next few weeks due to a shortage in generation capacity.
“Eskom cautions the public that it will still take a few weeks for the power generation system to fully recover to pre-strike levels. Eskom will communicate and implement any changes as may be necessary.
“Depending on several possibilities – including the workforce fully returning to work to conduct much needed repairs to equipment – it is anticipated load-shedding will gradually be lowered to stage 2 by the weekend.”
The schedule for Wednesday and Thursday are as follows:
00:00 – 05:00: Stage 2
05:00 – 16:00: Stage 4
16:00 -22:00: Stage 5
22:00 – 24:00: Stage 4
According to Eskom, the load-shedding schedule for Friday to Sunday is dependent on whether certain generating units will be returned to service.
