Loadshedding to continue until Thursday

The power utility this past week announced the extension in order to replenish emergency reserves.

Eskom has announced that loadshedding will continue until 05:00 on Thursday, October 14, as they try to replenish emergency power reserves.

The power utility indicated that owing to numerous breakdowns, emergency power reserves have been severely depleted, creating the need for extended loadshedding countrywide.

There have been breakdowns of, “a generating unit each at Kusile, Komati and Hendrina power stations.”

“The return of a generating unit at Majuba power station provided some relief, however, this was insufficient to curb the extensive use of emergency reserves,” said Eskom.

Total breakdowns amount to 14 760MW while planned maintenance impacts an additional 5 277MW of power.

Eskom has asked for sparing electricity use from the public where possible.
