Lonehill attempted hijacking caught on camera (video)
A video has emerged of last week’s attempted hijacking outside Crawford Prepatory School in Lonehill, in the north Johannesburg.
Last week Wednesday, three male suspects reportedly tried to hijack a woman of her Porsche outside the school as she was dropping off her child.
When the hijacking attempt failed, the suspects allegedly fled in a white Subaru, Fourways Review reported.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspects reportedly held up the school’s security guards with a pistol and a rifle.
In the video, posted on e-blockwatch’s Facebook page, a white Subaru pulls up behind a black Porsche SUV and two suspects exit the vehicle.
One of the suspects attempts to gain entry into the driver’s side of the Porsche, but the Porsche speeds away and mounts a curb to get away from the suspects.
The two suspects run back to the white Subaru as the driver of the getaway vehicle starts to reverse.
Meanwhile, police recovered the white Subaru used in the attempted hijacking in Fourways on Thursday.
According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, two illegal firearms were recovered inside the vehicle.
Police also discovered that the car had false number plates.
Muthan added that the suspects were still at large.
Earlier this year, a video emerged of suspects opening fire on a 22-year-old estate agent as she speeds away during an attempted hijacking.
The woman had allegedly been followed by three suspects, two of whom climbed out of their vehicle and stormed her’s in an attempt to gain entry into it.
Police said five shots were fired, two of which hit the woman’s car.
