Louis Trichardt man still missing after vehicle found near Polokwane

Authorities and private security teams are investigating a possible kidnapping after Reuben Marsberg’s Land Cruiser was found near Polokwane International Airport, with no sign of him.

The search for missing Louis Trichardt resident Reuben Marsberg (22) has entered its sixth day, with no trace of him despite his vehicle being recovered near Polokwane International Airport yesterday.

Private security company Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) confirmed to the Review-Observer today that Marsberg’s cream-coloured Toyota Land Cruiser was found abandoned, but he was not inside.

Rusa CEO Prem Balram says the family now believes the case is no longer a simple missing-persons incident.

“The family has stated that this is now being treated as a kidnapping. There is still no news about Marsberg, and the search continues,” Balram says.

Marsberg was last seen by his family sometime between Wednesday and Thursday last week, and they have not been able to reach him since.

Last known movements

On November 28, Rusa’s Missing People South Africa Facebook page made a public appeal, stating that calls to Marsberg’s phone were going straight to voicemail.

His last known location was traced to near the Makhado Local Municipality area.

The family also reported that several personal items, including a boat, were missing from Marsberg’s home.

His disappearance remains unexplained, and search efforts are ongoing across Limpopo.

Marsberg was last seen in blue overalls and slops. He is 1.7m in height and has brown eyes.
