Man arrested for young Springs teacher’s murder
Initially it was thought that a woman lost her life after the room she slept in caught fire, but now a man has been arrested in connection with her death.
A 31-year-old man was arrested in the murder investigation of Kamogelo Moepye (26), a teacher from the East Rand.
She died after the room she slept in at her boyfriend’s home caught fire, suspected to be caused by a heater. She sustained third-degree burns on August 19.
Moepye succumbed to her injuries on September 2 at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.
Initially, the SAPS opened an inquest docket.
According to police spokesperson Captain Neldah Sekgobela, the man was arrested on September 4.
He appeared in the Springs Magistrate’s Court on September 6.
