Man caught with 26 bags of dagga in Midrand

A man has been arrested after police found 26 zip lock bags filled with dagga hidden in a black plastic bag in Midrand, Gauteng.

Police were patrolling the Midrand taxi rank area on Saturday during a crime prevention watch when they police spotted a suspicious-looking man carrying a black plastic bag and approached him,Midrand Reporter reported.

The man was immediately arrested after being searched, police said.

Following the arrest of the supposed drug dealer, a man claiming to be the suspect’s brother was arrested for bribery after attempting to bribe the officers with R590 in order to release his alleged brother, police said.

The suspects, aged 30 and 34, appeared in the Midrand Magistrates’ Court on January 12 to face charges of drug possession and bribery.

In a separate incident, a Soweto man was arrested for dagga possession and was wanted for allegedly petrol bombing a house in December last year.

The 33-year-old man was caught with a small amount of dagga in Diepkloof, Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said.
