Man handed life sentence for raping elderly woman in Centurion
A 40-year-old man has been sentenced to life behind bars after he was found guilty of raping and robbing an elderly woman in Centurion.
This week, the management of Wierdabrug police applauded investigating officer Constable Norman Cook who played a huge role in ensuring the accused was given lengthy jail time, Pretoria Rekord reports.
Themba Sithole was handed a life imprisonment plus 20 years when he was found guilty of house robbery and rape of a 75-year-old woman back in 2018.

“Constable Norman Cook was professional during the presentation of evidence to the court of law which led to the sentencing of the accused,” said Wiedabrug police spokesperson Agnes Huma.
“Through investigations it was found Sithole entered the house, tied the old lady up and raped her. He also took valuable items and loaded them into the lady’s vehicle before driving off.”
Huma said Sithole was later involved in a car accident in Cullinan and that’s where he got arrested.
