Man shot dead in Kempton Park

A case of murder has been opened after a man in his 50s was shot dead in his home in Kempton Park, Gauteng, in the early hours of this morning.

Norkem Park police spokesperson Captain Lesibana Molokomme said three armed suspects entered the house of the man through the kitchen at about 2am and fired several shots at him,Kempton Express reported.

Molokomme added the man was certified dead on the scene by paramedics.

“The suspects made off with cellphones, a handbag, jewellery and a laptop,” said Molokomme.

No arrests have been made.

In a separate incident, a man was shot and killed in the Bundu Estate, near White River, Mpumalanga, last month.

Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said the elderly man was asleep with his companion when suddenly they heard some noise in the house.

The couple then saw a man in the house, police said.

“It is alleged that the suspects sprayed the old man with a pepper spray and thereafter shot him dead,” said Mohlala.

The attackers fled with a television set and cellphones belonging to the couple, added Mohlala.

No arrests had been made.
