Man survives mob justice attack after alleged rape
Elangeni residents reportedly emerged from their homes and assaulted the suspect.
A 29-year-old man from Mossel Bay, in Western Cape, is in hospital after an alleged mob justice attack in KwaNonqaba early on Monday.
Police said community members of Elangeni heard the screams of a woman at 5am. The woman told community members that the man raped her, the Mossel Bay Advertiser reported.
Elangeni residents reportedly emerged from their homes and assaulted the suspect.
The man survived the incident and is being treated for his injuries in a Mossel Bay Hospital.
Police confirmed that the 17-year-old victim was taken to hospital for treatment. A case of rape is being investigated.
