Man wearing traffic warden vest arrested in Eldorado Park
A man allegedly posing as a Gauteng Traffic Police officer was arrested in Eldorado Park after officers found him wearing a warden’s vest.
A 24-year-old man was arrested on Monday after he was found in possession of government property and impersonating a Gauteng Traffic Police officer at Old Eldorado Park.
Soweto Urban reports the Eldorado Park SAPS Tracing Unit apprehended the suspect at about 21:00.
According to media liaison officer Sergeant Fezeka Khobo, police spotted the man during routine patrols on Toermalyn Street.
He was wearing a mask and a Gauteng Traffic Warden bulletproof vest.
“Members stopped and questioned the suspect, who admitted that he is not a warden. He claimed his aunt, who is a traffic warden, gave him the vest. However, his aunt denied lending it to him,” says Khobo.
“The suspect was ultimately arrested for impersonation and possession of government property. He is being detained at Eldorado Park [Police] Station for further investigation.”
