Mandrax tablets worth R9m seized: Man arrested in Eastern Cape
Law enforcement officers found 111 bags of drugs in a vehicle after stopping and searching it following a tip-off.
A huge drug find in Komani in the Eastern Cape over the weekend has prevented Mandrax tablets worth R9m from reaching the streets.
According to an article published by Graaff-Reinet Advertiser, Captain Namhla Mdleleni, the media representative for Chris Hani district commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph, says the drugs were seized when law enforcers followed up on a tip-off.
On Saturday evening, Crime Intelligence members, with K9 and Red Guard Security, followed up on information about a vehicle coming from Gauteng that was allegedly transporting drugs.
When the vehicle was spotted, it was stopped and searched, and 111 bags containing drugs were confiscated.
A 55-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession and dealing in drugs. He was due to appear in Komani Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
