Medical practitioner arrested in Vanderbijlpark over alleged sexual misconduct
Police urged anyone who may have experienced similar conduct during a medical consultation to come forward as the investigation continued.
A medical practitioner has been arrested after a 20-year-old patient reported alleged sexual misconduct during a consultation.
Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela of Sedibeng District police said the woman had visited a Vanderbijlpark medical facility for treatment for headaches and migraines.
During the consultation, the practitioner allegedly subjected her to inappropriate conduct under the guise of a medical examination.
Police investigation and court appearance
The woman sought advice afterwards and reported the incident to police. The practitioner was arrested and detained at Vanderbijlpark Police Station.
Maxambela said he was scheduled to appear in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court later this week.
