VANDERBIJLPARK – A medical practitioner has been arrested after a 20-year-old patient reported alleged sexual misconduct during a consultation.

Sgt Thembeka Maxambela of Sedibeng district police said the woman had visited a Vanderbijlpark medical facility for treatment for headaches and migraines.

During the consultation, the practitioner allegedly subjected her to inappropriate conduct under the guise of a medical examination.

The woman sought advice afterwards and reported the incident to police. The practitioner was arrested and detained at Vanderbijlpark police station.

Maxambela said he was scheduled to appear in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrate’s Court, but his court appearance and the current status of the case had yet to be confirmed.

Police are investigating and have asked anyone who may have had a similar experience to report it at their nearest police station.
