Mother in court after baby dies in Mpumalanga

She is facing a charge of murder after allegedly feeding her baby porridge laced with poison.

A woman accused of killing her 10-month-old baby by poisoning the infant appeared in the Evander Magistrates Court today on charges of murder.

According to the police, Sibanyoni made porridge laced with poison for her baby and herself on December 7. However, she survived the incident and was taken to the Evander Hospital for treatment.

Sibanyoni will remain in custody until her next court appearance on December 27.
