Mpumalanga man allegedly kills sister, buries her in shallow grave
Police say a man allegedly told locals he had argued with his sister over food before fatally attacking her and burying her to avoid arrest.
A 30-year-old man was arrested yesterday in connection with the killing of his sister, who was reportedly buried in a shallow grave in his yard in KaBokweni, Mpumalanga.
According to Lowvelder, provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli said the SAPS received information about a man who reportedly told some community members that he had buried his elder sister’s body in his yard.
“The suspect further claimed he had a heated argument about food with his sister on May 29, 2024. According to him, the situation then turned violent and he struck her to death. To evade arrest, he then dug a shallow grave and buried her,” he said.
Mdhluli also said the body has not yet been exhumed. However, relevant stakeholders, including the SAPS’s Forensic Services and the K9 Unit, were notified about the incident and due processes will follow.
Developments in the investigation of this incident will be communicated with the public in due course.
