Mpumalanga police launch search after 3 bodies found near mine shaft

Police and residents launched a search after three decomposed bodies were discovered near an old mine shaft outside eMalahleni.

The Vosman SAPS, in collaboration with the Middelburg K9 Unit and concerned residents, this morning launched a co-ordinated search party in the Ferrobank area.

According to Witbank News, the search follows the recent uncovering of three decomposed bodies in the bushes near an old mine shaft.

The first body was discovered on Thursday when police were tracing a missing person in the open fields of Ferrobank.

Shortly after, a second body was found nearby after police had received a tip-off from residents.

On Sunday, a third body was located following a tip-off from a local resident.

The circumstances surrounding the three incidents are still unknown.

“One of the deceased’s relatives and a community member reached out and they told us that they were not satisfied with how the discoveries were made, therefore they requested us to launch a search party as they want to confirm if there are no more victims lying lifeless in the bushes,” says Vosman SAPS spokesperson Captain Vusi Mnisi.
