Murder-suicide investigation after discovery of elderly Durban couple

The two bodies in Westville were recovered by the gardener who saw the couple lying in a pool of blood.

A murder-suicide is being investigated by Westville SAPS after two bodies were found at a residence in Westville, Durban, yesterday morning.

Police spokesperson Captain Carmen Rhynes says the bodies of a man and a woman in their 80s were found in their home in Wellington Drive.

“The motive is unknown,” adds Rhynes.

ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson says they received a call just after 11:30 for help at a residence in Westville North.

“On arrival paramedics met with the gardener who informed the medics that he had arrived for work and could not gain access to the premises. He saw two occupants lying in a pool of blood. On the dining room floor.

“ALS Paramedics gained entry into the house and found a male and a female, believed to be in their 80s, with fatal gunshot wounds. Unfortunately both of them showed no signs of life and were declared deceased on the scene,” explains Jamieson.
