Stapelberg, who was said to be engaged to Terblanche, now finds himself at the centre of the investigation.

He was initially portrayed as the discoverer of the bodies in previous articles by Alberton Record, but is now under investigation as legal authorities allege his involvement in the double homicide.

Stapelberg, dressed in his navy work shirt, appeared in court to face two schedule six charges of premeditated murder.

He will remain in custody, and the case has been remanded to February 7 for a formal bail application.

Gardener’s case continues

Danhire (37), a Zimbabwean national and former family gardener, appeared in the same court on January 3 to face charges related to the double murder.

On the day, Danhire, who initially said he would defend himself, altered his legal strategy by applying for legal aid.

He also instructed his legal representative to abandon his bail.

His case was postponed to January 24, and the purpose of this delay is to determine whether the case will be transferred to the high court.
