Murdered Bloemfontein woman found wrapped in sticky tape
Two separate incidents in Caleb Motshabi has claimed the lives of three women and police need information in both cases.
A 43-year-old man will soon appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court to face a charge of murder.
He was arrested shortly after a gruesome discovery in Caleb Motshabi, Bloemfontein, where a 34-year-old woman’s body was found wrapped in sticky tape and covered in mud.
Local police spokesperson Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli says the victim was identified as Sinah Bantjies, and that she is one of three women found murdered in two separate incidents in the area.
“On Sunday, Kopanong Police received information about a body wrapped in sellotape inside a shack in Caleb Motshabi. Members rushed to the address and on arrival they found the shack locked but drag marks were spotted leading to the pit toilet. Upon inspecting the pit toilet, they made discovery of the body wrapped in sellotape and covered in mud.”
Kareli explains the arrested man was traced and arrested by Kopanong detectives after he had fled the scene.
2 bodies found in a shack
A separate incident was reported on December 20 at around 16:00, the police spokesperson adds.
“Kopanong police received a call about two bodies in a shack at T13 in Caleb Motshabi. Members rushed to the scene and discovered the bodies of two females (aged 91 and 66-year-old) on the bed. Their neighbour made the discovery after she last saw the 66-year-old while in their yard earlier that day.”
The victims were identified as 91-year-old Sarah Sentlholo and her 66-year-old daughter Rebecca Moyetsane.
“Kopanong Police initially opened two cases of inquest for further investigation. Preliminary postmortem results revealed that the two were murdered as the 91-year-old died of poisoning and her daughter was strangled to death.”
