National Prayer Day to cleanse the N1 between Mokopane and Kranskop in Limpopo

“More than 40 people have died along this ‘deadly stretch of the road’ in the past two months, with six more people this weekend due to criminal elements. As a province our concerns are with our people, we can’t afford continuing losing people in these large numbers,” says Limpopo Premier Chupu Mathabatha through his Spokesperson Kenny Mathivha.

The National Prayer Day will be held near Mookgophong next Sunday, Polokwane Review reports.

During the latest incident six people died and several were injured when a truck allegedly drove onto the road in front of traffic in an effort to evade armed suspects.

A Toyota Tazz drove into the back of the truck and other vehicles slammed into the wreckage resulting in fatalities.

“Premier Mathabatha has learnt with shock of the criminal element currently said to be operating along the N1 between Kranskop and Mokopane and has been in touch with the Provincial Commissioner General Ledwaba who who has already established a Special Task Team to investigate these unfortunate incidents.

The Premier has further urged drivers to be vigilant and report any unusual activities to the police along this road, Mathivah concluded.
