No arrests yet in KZN murder

A case of murder has been opened after a nine-year-old boy with stab wounds to his head was found lying in a yard in the Mfanefile reserve, near Melmoth, KwaZulu-Natal.

The boy, Amahle, was found in Bhekokwakhe Mhlongo’s garden after he had heard his dogs barking at about 5.30am on Wednesday, Zululand Observer reported.

It is believed Mhlongo found the young boy lying on the ground without a shirt.

Mhlongo said he did not recognise the boy, and so he called the local councillor, who then identified him.

Amahle died on the scene before he could get medical help, added Mhlongo.

At this stage, no one has been arrested, and it remains unknown what Amahle had been doing at Mhlongo’s homestead.

Investigations are ongoing.

In a separate incident, a 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death at a school in Bishop Lavis, Cape Town, Western Cape in December last year.

The teenager from Matroosfontein was found with a stab wound to the neck at about 11am on Wednesday, said Captain Frederick van Wyk.

Witnesses claimed the boy was stabbed by a 17-year-old pupil and died on the scene, added Van Wyk.

A murder case was opened, and no arrests have been made.
