Police say the manhunt for the remaining three escapees continues

One of the four escapees, Abel Modiba (31) was re-arrested at Rwanda Village in the Nwamitwa area, outside Tzaneen, on Saturday, 17 November, Polokwane Review reports.

Police spokesperson, Col Moatshe Ngoepe says Modiba was arrested during a sting joint operation by the Haenertsburg Saps members and the Tzaneen Cluster Tracking Team and that the manhunt for the three remaining escapees is still underway.

Modiba was one of four awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from the back of a moving police van on the corner of Hospital and Landros Maree streets on Wednesday, 14 November.

The prisoners were being transported from Haenertsburg Police Station outside Tzaneen to Polokwane.
