One killed as truck crushes vehicle on the N12 near the R24

The body of a man was found trapped in the wreckage of the light motor vehicle.

A man was killed and five others injured on Saturday afternoon in a collision involving a truck and two light motor vehicles on the N12 eastbound before the R24 in Kempton Park, reports the Kempton Express.

Russel Meiring, spokesman for ER24, said when paramedics arrived on the scene, they found the three vehicles in the right-hand lane of the road.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics found a light motor vehicle trapped beneath the overturned truck and container.

“The body of a man was found trapped in the wreckage of the light motor vehicle. Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his injuries. Nothing more could be done for him and he was declared dead,” Meiring said.

Five other patients were found inside a second vehicle, situated at the rear of the truck.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found the five had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

The patients were treated for their injuries and were thereafter transported to various hospitals in the area for further treatment.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
