The National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations will officially begin on Wednesday, October 27.

With only weeks to go until this year’s National Senior Certificate (NSC) examinations get underway, the Department of Basic Education (DBE) said it expects more than 890 000 candidates to sit for the exams.

The NSC examinations will officially begin on Wednesday, October 27 and conclude on Tuesday, December 7.

The director of national examinations, Priscilla Ogunbanjo said this is the largest number of full-time candidates expected to sit for the exams since the inception of the NSC exams.

“We have 735 677 full-time candidates enrolled to write the exam. This is an increase of 128 451 candidates than we had enrolled last year,” she said.

Meanwhile, the DBE has consulted with the provinces to check on their state of readiness. The provinces confirmed that all systems were in place.
