Police probe triple shooting at Burgersfort Police Station in Limpopo
Detectives are working to unravel the chain of events after two people were killed and another wounded in an early-morning shooting at a police station.

A manhunt has been launched following a shooting that took place early yesterday morning at the Burgersfort Police Station in the Sekhukhune District in Limpopo.
Polokwane Review reports that Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says officers on duty heard several gunshots coming from the station’s yard.
When they went to investigate, they discovered a 28-year-old woman lying near two vehicles with gunshot wounds. Nearby, they found her husband, a 31-year-old man, with a fatal gunshot wound, and a 39-year-old woman who had also been shot.
Paramedics were called to the scene and declared the 31-year-old man and the 39-year-old woman dead. The 28-year-old woman was transported to hospital, where she is receiving medical care.
“Preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased man and the injured woman were married, and it is suspected that he may have turned the gun on himself after the shooting. Police are also probing the circumstances surrounding the presence of the 39-year-old woman at the scene.”
A firearm, ammunition and several spent cartridges were recovered during the investigation.
Cases of murder, attempted murder, and an inquest have been opened.
Provincial police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered investigators to prioritise the case to establish what happened.
Police investigations are ongoing.
