Polokwane cop hands himself over for wife’s murder

Millicent Ntjana (36) was shot several times and declared dead on the scene.

A 54-year-old policeman attached to the Polokwane Flying Squad handed himself over to the police in Mogwadi in Dendron on Monday for the murder of his wife.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said the man allegedly shot and killed his 36-year-old wife in Seshego Zone 8 last Thursday.

Mojapelo said the police were notified about the shooting and discovered the victim who had been shot several times.

She was declared dead on the scene and was identified as Millicent Ntjana.

“The suspect had already fled the scene when police arrived. The motive for the incident is unknown but domestic violence cannot be ruled out,” a statement read.

Meanwhile, provincial police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe urged couples who experience marital problems to seek help and refrain from resorting to violence.

“Particularly members of the SAPS who must be protectors of society,” she added.

The officer is expected to appear before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
