Power outages in George due to flooding

The power outages were caused by damage to infrastructure following flooding.

George Municipality’s Electrotechnical Services Directorate continues to work on repairs and will be updated as they are completed.

Extreme rain and flooding have caused extensive damage to the power network.

The following areas have been restored:

  • CBD
  • Saasveld
  • Tamsui MS HOPS
  • Wilderness

Areas currently with power outages:

  • Pacaltsdorp outage – MS SCHUBERT Estimated time of repair 20:00
  • Wilderness Seven Passes – teams still engaged with cutting down vegetation. No estimated time of repair as of yet.
  • Geelhoutboom Du Toit line – teams still working, no estimated time of repairs of yet.
  • Zone 7, Thembalethu – Estimated time of repair 14:00
  • Victoria Bay – Estimated time of repair 14:00
