Pretoria girl (12) in coma after electric scooter fall

An experienced rider is fighting for her life in Milpark Hospital following a Mother’s Day accident within a private residential complex.

Grade 7 Laerskool Skuilkrans pupil Kira Meyer fell while riding with her stepfather, prompting an emergency airlift to Johannesburg for specialist intensive care. The youngster was wearing a helmet when she sustained a serious brain injury on Sunday afternoon.

A tragic Mother’s Day accident

According to her mother, Angelique, the family was spending Mother’s Day together when Kira asked to go scooter riding with her stepfather inside their residential complex. Despite Kira wearing a helmet and being an experienced rider of many years, the accident resulted in a severe impact.

Angelique shared on social media that Kira sustained a traumatic brain injury during the fall. She was immediately airlifted to Milpark Hospital, where she remains in a coma in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Family holds onto faith

While recent brain scans have not brought the news the family hoped for, they remain steadfast in their faith. Angelique stated that the family believes God is in control and has called upon the public to join them in prayer.

She asked people to pray with them, believing in a miracle for Kira’s recovery.

Community support

Support has poured in from all sectors, with family, friends, and strangers sharing messages of encouragement across social media platforms.

The call for prayer has reached a massive scale. At 08:00 today, a community-wide prayer session was held. Notably, Jesus se Radiostasie, a station with approximately two million listeners, participated in the prayers, mobilising a vast audience to support the young girl’s recovery.
