Private security companies tackle Pretoria street crimes with copter
There has been an increase in street robberies of workers around the Heuwelsig Estate and Raslouw Manor area, Pretoria.
Private security companies, Wierdabrug police and the sector 3 CPF rallied together in a bid to tackle a recent spate in street robberies around the Heuwelsig and Raslouw area on Friday morning.

Le Roux explained that they had recently been notified of an increase in street robberies of workers around the Heuwelsig Estate and Raslouw Manor area.
“They mostly get robbed of all their monies, particularly on Fridays during the late afternoon,” he said.

Joggers in the vicinity had also reportedly been robbed of their phones and other valuables while a number of motorists had allegedly fallen victim to smash-and-grab incidents.
“We cordoned off the area and the respective personnel went in to search if any valuables could be found or suspects,” Le Roux said.
A ‘Cairo Copter’ [smaller version of a helicopter] was also used during the operation which was flown by Andre van Zyl.
Le Roux further said that residents could expect more operations of this nature in the area as the festive season drew closer.
