R120 000 worth of alcohol stolen from Durban liquor store
Police found 37 cartridges at the scene.
Armed robbers, who were reported to have been using four vehicles, broke into a liquor store in New Germany this morning.
According to Pinetown Cluster communications officer, Capt Bongumusa Manqele, the robbers fled with alcohol worth R120 000 after a shootout with security officers.
Manqele said about 37 cartridges were found around the scene.
“According to reports, the criminals saw a security company car passing by and started shooting. It is alleged that another security company responded and a shootout ensued.”
No one was reported to have been injured.
“A case of business robbery and theft is being investigated by Pinetown police,” said Manqele.
