Residents urged to keep recycling indoors as Durban municipality suspends refuse collection

Residents are requested to put their refuse out for collection on the next collection date that does not fall on a public holiday.

As the Easter weekend draws near, the eThekwini Municipality said refuse collection will be suspended over the public holidays.

Residents who put their recyclable refuse out for collection on Fridays and Mondays have been urged to keep their refuse inside. In a Facebook post, the municipality said:

“The City would like to advise residents of eThekwini Municipality that all recycling bags will not be collected on the following public holidays: 2 and 5 April 2021. The non-collection only applies to areas whose recyclables are to be collected on the above-mentioned dates.”

Residents are requested to put their refuse out for collection next week.

“We request residents to keep their recyclables within their properties and take them out on the next collection days which do not fall on a public holiday. Alternatively, take the recyclables to the nearest drop- off centres or garden refuse sites,” read the post.
