Reward offered for information on North West businessman’s shooting

A case of murder has been opened into a shooting in which a man was killed.

Well-known Mohadin, Potchefstroom, businessman Johannes Maponyane’s (74) family has issued a R200 000 reward for information on his death last week.

Maponyane was found shot dead in his yard last Tuesday.

North West police spokesperson Captain Sam Tselanyane confirmed that police have opened a case of murder and that an investigation is underway.

Maponyane, who was found lying on his back on the grass, was declared dead by paramedics on the scene at around 19:30.

His car was still idling in front of his main gate.

Neighbours were alerted when they heard gunshots.

The family, still in shock, has offered a R200 000 reward for information that could lead the police to the shooter.
