Richards Bay robbery and rape accused’s sentence looms

A man who was charged in 2022 for a 2014 crime was recently convicted of housebreaking and rape.

A 42-year-old house robbery and rape accused, who attacked his victim with a weapon while raping him, will be back in the Richards Bay Regional Court on March 12 after the matter was postponed for a pre-sentencing report.

The incident occurred in Mzingazi outside Richards Bay in 2014, during which the adult victim was brutally attacked, assaulted and endured severe bodily harm.

Zola Zikhali was charged for the crime in 2022 and has remained in custody since.

He was recently found guilty of housebreaking and rape.

Zikhali has had numerous convictions over the past two decades.
