Robber shot dead by police

A house robber has been shot dead by police, while the other was arrested at a house in Terenure, Kempton Park, in Gauteng today.

A bystander was allegedly wounded in the leg and is being treated by Emer-G-Med paramedics on the scene, Kempton Express reported.

It is believed police had been looking a stolen vehicle linked to various crimes.

The suspect who was shot died behind the steering wheel of the alleged stolen car.

In a separate incident, a gun fight between police and hijacking suspects led to the shooting of a 19-year-old suspect, who is currently under police guard at a local hospital in KwaZulu-Natal last month.

The complainant allegedly parked his vehicle outside his home when he was approached by two armed men.

The suspects threatened the complainant with firearms, and they snatched his cellphones and an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing with his vehicle.

Chatsworth police spokesperson Lieutenant Cheryl Pillay said the suspects allegedly fired at police, who returned fire and injured one suspect.
