Robbers attack pensioners in Carletonville

A couple in their 60s were locked in the bathroom next to their bedroom as a group stole electrical equipment.

Two pensioners were attacked in their yard in Carletonville Extension 9 last week.

The incident happened on Geldenhuys Street on June 8, when the pensioners, both in their 60s, were raking leaves in the garden at about noon. Their electrical gate was open.

Suddenly, three unknown men strolled into the yard – one of them had a crowbar.

“Keep quiet,” the thugs ordered, the couple explain.

The criminals then forced them into the garage and made them lie down behind their vehicles. One of the criminals left the yard and, shortly afterwards, drove back in a white Toyota Avanza.

They then forced the pensioners into the bathroom next to their main bedroom and locked them inside.

The criminals then proceeded to take various electrical equipment, load it into the Avanza and drove away.

The pensioners were only discovered at approximately 14:00 when their son arrived home. Luckily, they were not injured.
